How can we brighten your day?
Companionship
At Viva Assist, much of our day brightening is about putting an end to loneliness. With busy lives making it hard for family and friends to visit regularly and having less access to transport, it’s easy to feel alone and isolated as you get older.
Our companionship services can be whatever makes you happy.
If you love puzzling or fancy a game of cards, we are there with a jigsaw under our arm. If you like the idea of an afternoon crafting, or want to do some pottering in the garden, the craft basket is ready and we’re digging out those gardening gloves. Or if it’s simply a friendly chat over a cuppa and a review of last nights telly, then we’ll get the kettle on.
Perhaps a day out is what’s called for? We can do that too.
We’ve planned trips out to the local Boat Museum, enjoyed sailing down the River Dee on the showboat, gasped in wonder at falconry displays and watched fabulous shows at the theatre – we’ve even reunited two old friends who thought they wouldn’t be able to see each other in person again!
Just tell us what you love doing and we’ll do our best to make it happen during our visits.
Taking to Appointments
Attending an appointment can be nerve racking at the best of times, but if you’re struggling with transport, mobility or simply knowing what paperwork you’ll need to take, we totally understand – and can help.
From booking the appointment for you to escorting you on the day – your day brightener is there to support you in any way you need. If you’d like us to go in with you and make notes, we can. Or if you’d prefer us to leave you to it and pick you up when you’re ready, it’s your call.
All our clients want different things, so we’ll take our lead from you.
Grocery Shopping
There’s something lovely about choosing a freshly baked loaf of bread, or seeing what treats are on offer at the local shop, but we understand that getting there can be daunting – especially if you don’t have access to the right transport. And walking back with heavy bags is no fun for anyone – whatever their age!
So to make life easier we offer a grocery shopping service.
Again, the service is tailored to work around you, so if you prefer we can take you to your favourite supermarket or shopping centre and help you with the bags or, we can take your list and deliver your shopping to your door. (And knowing our day brighteners, they’ll probably help you put it all away too!).
Errands
Need to pop to the post office to catch the last post? Want to choose a special birthday present for a friend, or pick up a prescription from the pharmacy?
Errands are a fact of life for all of us.
But when it’s not that easy to get out and about, or the thought of walking around the local shopping centre makes you anxious, then that errand can feel less like a quick task and more like a challenge!
Our team are always on hand to help with whatever you need. Whether that’s accompanying you as you rummage through the racks of birthday cards, providing transport to the pharmacy for your prescription or stepping in to pop to the post office on your behalf. We can work the visit around you and what you’d like to do.
Decluttering
It’s very easy to feel overwhelmed if your space is full of clutter. But as tasks go this is one that can feel incredibly daunting – even the best of us might choose to turn a blind eye rather than get stuck in.
Whether it’s sorting treasured possessions, or clearing out old magazines and mail, breaking down the task into smaller, manageable chunks – with the company of a good friend to help, of course – can make the job far easier. Our day brighteners will work with you, letting you take the lead on what needs to stay and what should go.
Just think how wonderful it will be to clear your space and get your home back under control.
Application Support
Do applications feel daunting? Let us take away the stress.
Attendance Allowance is available to many older people and it isn’t based on savings or income. The payments often cover the cost of our Day Brighteners, which brings helpful support within reach. However, the application can feel long and confusing to work through.
We can handle the process for you. Our team understands what the assessors look for and how to describe your daily needs accurately and honestly, giving your application a stronger chance of success.
We can also help with Blue Badge applications. The steps can often feel daunting, but we can manage the form, help you source the right documents and check everything through, and make the whole process stress free.
Admin Tasks
Paperwork. It never really goes away does it.
Sadly, we can’t make it disappear completely, but we can help you keep on top of it.
From organising important paperwork and sending correspondence to filling in forms, we’re happy to help with it all – just ask.
